Based on a true story.

In the summer of 1988 my family and I packed up our things and moved from Bournemouth, England, to San Antonio, Texas. As a shy and culture-shocked 15 year-old, I took my first tentative steps toward my formative years as a budding American with more than a little trepidation.

I clung to my roots ferociously during those early years, and the memories I’d formed as a young, drainpipe jean-wearing, Branston Pickle-eating Brit served as the basis for what I now fondly refer to as my mid-Atlantic identity. These fonts and the stories that inspired them represent some of those early memories.

A million thanks to Andrei Robu, Matthijs Herzberg and Dai Foldes for the font editing, and to Trent Walton and Brenda Storer for help with the site. Thanks also to Walter Coots, who helped make all of this possible.
